# Article 1. Subject matter and purpose of the Law

Chapter I

(1) This Law establishes the legal framework for:

a) the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data;

b) the organisation and functioning of the National Centre for Personal Data Protection (hereinafter also ‘the Centre’);

c) the supervision of the implementation of the legislation on personal data protection;

d) legal liability and the sanctions applied for infringements of the legislation on personal data protection.

(2) The purpose of this Law is to ensure the protection of the fundamental rights and freedoms of natural persons and, in particular, of the right to intimate, family and private life, in connection with the processing of personal data.
