## Definition in the Law [art. 4](https://conformitate.md/en/law-195-2024/article-4#term-8 "processor")

> a natural or legal person, public authority, agency or other body which processes personal data on behalf of the controller;

## In plain words

A processor processes data on behalf of the controller. An outside provider that runs a company’s payroll and works with its employees’ data is a processor.
