## Definition in the Law [art. 4](https://conformitate.md/en/law-195-2024/article-4#term-2 "processing")

> any operation or set of operations which is performed on personal data or on sets of personal data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction;

## In plain words

Processing means any operation performed on personal data, whether or not by automated means. Collecting the data of job applicants, storing it and erasing it are each processing.
