> a number by which a natural person is identified in certain filing systems and which is of general application, such as: the state identification number, the series and number of the identity card, or the number of the passport or of the driving licence;

A national identification number is a number of general application by which a person is identified in certain filing systems, such as the state identification number or the passport number. For example, an employee’s state identification number (IDNP), recorded in his or her personnel file, is a national identification number.
